Collaboration In Community
In different cultures, there are words or phrases that embody a sense of duty and responsibility to one's community. Such a phrase exists in the South East Asian country of Indonesia. An Indonesian educator within my network taught me that Gotong Royong means to work hand in hand within a community, to lessen a burden. Gotong Royong is a spirit of cohesiveness. As an immaterial asset, Gotong Royong is the vision I see for this network.
Here you will find interviews with other educators from around the world, sharing their unique perspectives and voices on what it means to bring out the best in others; working together to learn, grow, and manifest our visions.

Here is a curated list of applications and websites that can help you integrate more technology into your sessions with learners.
The GR Network is a vibrant community dedicated to fostering inclusivity and valuing the uniqueness of every individual. As we engage with diverse backgrounds and needs, united by our passion for education and learning, we recognize the importance of creating a safe space that truly understands and respects others. To achieve this, we uphold a standard for acceptable behavior and firmly reject anything that undermines inclusivity.
As the founder of The GR Network, I have had the privilege of collaborating with individuals from around the globe. I have witnessed how my friends and colleagues navigate the world, often adapting to conform to the beliefs and expectations of others. This constant balancing act between authenticity and societal pressures, whether for professional opportunities or community acceptance, is an all-too-familiar experience. As a native New Yorker, I embrace the rich tapestry of humanity, knowing that people come in countless variations of race, size, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and ideological perspectives.
Each encounter with someone fundamentally different from myself becomes an opportunity for growth and learning. I strive to understand their experiences, even if they may not align with my own at the present moment. While I hold my own core values and beliefs, I recognize that if they ever cause harm to others, it is crucial to reevaluate and challenge them. We should not be coerced into changing who we are for the sake of others; rather, we should willingly embrace personal transformation and aspire to become better versions of ourselves. This requires deep self-reflection and a commitment to continuous growth as we shape our identities and the impact we have on others. This is the current vision for DEI within The GR Network.
We welcome all that is YOU.
With Love and Respect always,
Sheena
